History of VNDI

The report on the history of the enterprise began in May 1964, when a decision was made to establish the All-Union Scientific and Research Technological Institute of Chemical, Pump-Compressor and Armature Engineering (NDITehmash) in Sumy. Vasyl Artemovich Karbivnychy was appointed the first director of the institute. He energetically set about forming a team, building engineering and experimental bases. Research and experimental and engineering buildings, residential buildings for specialists and workers were put into operation in a short period of time.

In 1967, NDItechmash was approved by the main institute of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR for compressor construction. A number of enterprises were attached to the institute:
- Sumy Heavy Compressor Construction Plant,
- Penza Compressor Plant
- Krasnodar Compressor Plant,
- Bezsoniv Compressor Plant,
- Kazan Compressor Plant,
- Chityn Machine-Building Plant
- Ural Compressor Plant
- Moscow Compressor Plant “Borets”,
- “Venibi” plant (Lithuania).
